The LSU Tigers have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. LSU and the Mississippi State Bulldogs will face off in an SEC battle at noon ET on Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field. These two teams might be coming in a bit winded after having run the length of the field multiple times in their most recent games.
When you finish with 202 more yards than your opponent like LSU did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. Everything went their way against the Central Michigan Chippewas as they made off with a 49-21 win. With LSU ahead 35-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already. QB Max Johnson had a stellar game for LSU as he passed for five TDs and 354 yards on 34 attempts.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but MSU had to settle for a 31-29 defeat against the Memphis Tigers last week. The Bulldogs gained 222 more yards than Memphis, but the latter made more effective use of their yardage. Mississippi State's loss came about despite a quality game from QB Will Rogers, who passed for three TDs and 419 yards on 67 attempts.
This next contest is expected to be close, with LSU going off at just a 2.5-point favorite. They covered a 19.5-point spread last week, so bettors might be thinking that will translate to further success against a lower spread.
LSU's victory brought them up to 2-1 while MSU's loss pulled them down to an identical 2-1.
