Miami (OH) vs. Central Michigan: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Miami (OH) vs. Central Michigan football game
The Miami (OH) RedHawks and the Central Michigan Chippewas are set to square off in a Mid-American matchup at 3:30 p.m. ET Oct. 2 at Fred C. Yager Stadium. CMU will be strutting in after a victory while the RedHawks will be stumbling in from a defeat.
Miami (OH) came up short against the Army West Point Black Knights last week, falling 23-10. No one had a standout game offensively for Miami (OH), but QB Brett Gabbert led the way with one touchdown. Gabbert's 80-yard touchdown toss to RB Kevin Davis in the fourth quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the day.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, CMU beat the FIU Panthers 31-27 last week. The win came about thanks to a strong surge after the third quarter to overcome a 27-10 deficit. Central Michigan's RB Lew Nichols III was one of the most active players for the team, picking up 151 yards on the ground on 24 carries in addition to snatching one receiving TD.
CMU's defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Panthers' offensive line to sack QB Max Bortenschlager five times for a total loss of 45 yards. Leading the way was LB Troy Hairston II and his two sacks. Hairston II now has three sacks this year.
This next game is expected to be close, with the RedHawks going off at just a 1-point favorite. True fans might be the only ones betting on them, currently 0-2 ATS, to cover the spread.
Miami (OH) is now 1-3 while the Chippewas sit at 2-2. A pair of defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Miami (OH) is 211th worst in the nation in touchdowns allowed, with 15 on the season. CMU has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 220th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up nine on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
