Massachusetts vs. Toledo: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Massachusetts vs. Toledo football game
The Massachusetts Minutemen are staring down a pretty large 27-point disadvantage in the spread for Saturday's game. They will take on the Toledo Rockets at noon ET on Saturday at Warren P. McGuirk Alumni Stadium. The Minutemen are out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
UMass took a serious blow against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers last week, falling 53-3. UMass was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 36 to nothing. QB Brady Olson had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: he passed for only 86 yards on 23 attempts.
Meanwhile, Toledo was able to grind out a solid victory over the Ball State Cardinals last week, winning 22-12. Toledo QB Dequan Finn did work as he rushed for one TD and 106 yards. That touchdown -- a 70-yard rush in the second quarter -- was one of the highlights of the matchup.
UMass is now 0-4 while Toledo sits at 2-2. A pair of defensive stats to keep an eye on: The Minutemen are 249th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 17 on the season. The Rockets have experienced some rushing struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 135th most rushing yards allowed per game in the nation, having given up 152.5 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
