Marshall vs. FIU: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Marshall vs. FIU football game
A Conference USA battle is on tap between the FIU Panthers and the Marshall Thundering Herd at noon ET on Saturday at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. FIU isn't expected to win, but seeing as the odds didn't stop them last game, maybe the squad has another upset up their sleeve.
FIU was hampered by 100 penalty yards against the Miami (FL) Hurricanes last week, but luckily for them that wasn't the tale of the game. The Panthers secured a 30-24 W over Miami (FL). FIU's RB Anthony Jones was one of the most active players for the team as he rushed for 112 yards and one TD on 16 carries.
Meanwhile, the point spread favored Marshall, but luck did not. It was a hard-fought contest, but they had to settle for a 24-13 loss against the Charlotte 49ers. QB Isaiah Green just could not get things rolling his way: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw two interceptions with a passing completion percentage of only 35.29%.
FIU's victory lifted them to 6-5 while Marshall's defeat dropped them down to 7-4. Two defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Marshall enters the matchup with 33 sacks, good for 18th best in the nation. As for the Panthers, they rank 14th in the league when it comes to passing touchdowns allowed, with only 11 on the season. We'll find out if either of these strengths ends up making the difference in the game.
