What to Know
The LSU Tigers head home again Saturday, but with the point spread against them by 6.5 points, it might not be quite the welcoming they would prefer. LSU and the Texas A&M Aggies will face off in an SEC battle at 7 p.m. ET at Tiger Stadium. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
The Tigers beat the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks 27-14 last week. LSU QB Max Johnson was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 319 yards on 33 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. Johnson hadn't helped his team much against the Arkansas Razorbacks two weeks ago, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
Meanwhile, A&M turned the game against the Prairie View A&M Panthers into a track meet and took the gold after outgaining them 447 yards to 154. A&M put a hurting on Prairie View A&M at home to the tune of 52-3. With A&M ahead 38 to nothing at the half, the matchup was all but over already. Among those leading the charge for them was WR Moose Muhammad III, who caught five passes for two TDs and 77 yards.
The Aggies' defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Panthers' offensive line to sack the quarterback four times for a total loss of 25 yards. It was a group effort with five guys contributing.
The wins brought the Tigers up to 5-6 and A&M to 8-3. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: LSU is stumbling into the game with the 176th most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown nine on the season. A&M has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 231st worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown 13 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
