Live scores, highlights and updates from the Louisiana-Monroe vs. UTEP football game
Game Recap
The UTEP Miners ran circles around the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks on Saturday, and the extra yardage (504 yards vs. 174 yards) paid off. The Miners took their matchup against Louisiana-Monroe by a conclusive 31-6 score. That looming 25-point mark stands out as the most commanding margin for UTEP yet this year.
Among those leading the charge for UTEP was RB Deion Hankins, who rushed for three TDs and 118 yards on 22 carries. UTEP also got help from WR Jacob Cowing, who showed off his sure hands for 102 receiving yards in the win.
No one had a standout game offensively for Louisiana-Monroe, but they got one touchdown from QB Colby Suits. Jevin Frett's longest catch was for 49 yards in the first quarter.
The victory makes it two in a row for the Miners and bumps their record up to 3-1. The Warhawks still haven't won a contest and fell to 0-3.
UTEP will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off; they will square off against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at Joe Aillet Stadium at 7 p.m. ET in two weeks. Louisiana-Monroe will be hunkering down at home again for their contest against the Georgia Southern Eagles at 7 p.m. ET Oct. 3 at JPS Field at James L. Malone Stadium. Like Louisiana-Monroe, Georgia Southern is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 20-18 to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.
