Liberty vs. Massachusetts updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Liberty vs. Massachusetts football game
The Massachusetts Minutemen need to shore up a defense that is allowing 44 points per game before their contest on Saturday. The Minutemen and the Liberty Flames will face off in an FBS Independents battle at noon ET at Williams Stadium. Liberty should still be riding high after a win, while UMass will be looking to get back in the win column.
UMass scored first but ultimately less than the Florida State Seminoles in their matchup last week. It's hard to picture a worse loss than the 59-3 bruising that UMass suffered. They were in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 38-3. QB Brady Olson had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw two interceptions with only 4.07 yards per passing attempt.
Meanwhile, Liberty bagged a 35-26 victory over the North Texas Mean Green last week. Among those leading the charge for the Flames was WR CJ Daniels, who caught seven passes for two TDs and 128 yards.
The Minutemen are the clear underdogs, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. Those betting on them against the spread shouldn't have high expectations for them since the squad is 2-4 ATS when expected to lose.
UMass is now 1-6 while Liberty sits at 6-2. Liberty is 3-2 after wins this year, and UMass is 1-4 after losses.
