Liberty vs. Massachusetts: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Friday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Liberty vs. Massachusetts football game
Game Recap
The Liberty Flames got themselves on the board against the Massachusetts Minutemen Friday, but UMass never followed suit. Liberty steamrolled past the Minutemen 45 to nothing at home. That 45-point margin sets a new team best for the Flames on the season.
QB Malik Willis hadn't helped Liberty's cause all that much against the NC State Wolfpack last week, but the same can't be said for this contest. Willis had a stellar game for Liberty as he passed for three TDs and 223 yards on 24 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 63 yards. Willis put himself on the highlight reel with a 54-yard TD scramble in the third quarter. Liberty also got a significant boost from RB Peytton Pickett, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 125 yards.
The win bumped the Flames' record up to 9-1. The Minutemen still haven't won a matchup and fell to 0-4.
Liberty will take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at noon ET next week at Brooks Stadium. As for UMass, their regular season is over.
