Liberty vs. Army West Point updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Liberty vs. Army West Point football game
The Army West Point Black Knights have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. Army and the Liberty Flames will face off in an FBS Independents battle at noon ET on Saturday at Williams Stadium. The Black Knights will be strutting in after a victory while Liberty will be stumbling in from a defeat.
Army had enough points to win and then some against the Massachusetts Minutemen last week, taking their contest 33-17. Army can attribute much of their success to RB Tyrell Robinson, who rushed for one TD and 137 yards on nine carries. That nimble footwork stands out as the first time Robinson has hit the 100-yard rushing mark this season.
Army's defense was a presence as well, as it got past UMass' offensive line to sack the QB four times for a total loss of ten yards. Leading the way was LB Andre Carter II and his 2.5 sacks. Carter II now has eight sacks through ten games.
Meanwhile, the Flames found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 42-14 punch to the gut against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns last week. That makes it the first time this season Liberty has let down their home crowd. The losing side was boosted by WR Kevin Shaa, who snatched two receiving TDs. Shaa had some trouble finding his footing against the Ole Miss Rebels three weeks ago, so this was a step in the right direction.
Army is expected to lose this next one by 3.5. Those burned by picking them against the spread last week might want to keep in mind that the squad has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.
Army's win brought them up to 7-3 while Liberty's loss pulled them down to 7-4. A pair of offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Black Knights are 239th worst in the nation in passing yards per game, with only 92.8 on average. The Flames' offense has more to brag about, as they they rank 13th in the nation when it comes to passing touchdowns, with 28 on the season. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
