The Kentucky Wildcats rang in the new year with a 37-30 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies on Tuesday.
WR Lynn Bowden Jr. had a dynamite game for UK; he threw one touchdown in addition to rushing for two TDs and 233 yards on 34 carries. Bowden Jr. put himself on the highlight reel with a 61-yard TD scramble in the third quarter. UK received some extra help from LB Jordan Wright, whose 31-yard fumble return for touchdown in the fourth quarter made for one of the game's most unforgettable moments.
A silver lining for Virginia Tech was the play of RB Deshawn McClease, who rushed for one TD and 126 yards on 11 carries.
The Wildcats' win brought them up to 7-5. Virginia Tech's defeat pushes them down to 8-4. With that, the East Division playoffs come to an end.
