Live scores, highlights and updates from the Kentucky vs. South Carolina football game
Game Recap
After losing to the South Carolina Gamecocks the last time they met, the Kentucky Wildcats decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Wildcats took their matchup against USC on Saturday by a conclusive 41-18 score. The high-flying offensive effort was a definite turnaround from UK's flat performance the game before.
UK started the contest off right with 27 first-half points. USC wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 27-3 heading into the break. Although UK wound up losing the second-half battle, they still had enough in reserve to win the war.
RB Christopher Rodriguez Jr. had a stellar game for the Wildcats as he rushed for three TDs and 139 yards on 14 carries. Rodriguez Jr. put himself on the highlight reel with a 79-yard TD scramble in the fourth quarter. Rodriguez Jr.'s sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season. RB Asim Rose and his 101 yards on the ground were another key factor in UK's victory.
UK's defense was a presence as well, as it collected one interception and three fumbles. S Yusuf Corker picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
South Carolina's loss came about despite a quality game from RB Kevin Harris, who rushed for one TD and 210 yards on 21 carries. Harris' longest run was for 59 yards in the third quarter.
The win bumped UK's record up to 4-6. USC's defeat pushed them down to 2-8. With that, the East Division playoffs come to an end.
