After losing to the Ball State Cardinals the last time they met, the Kent State Golden Flashes decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Kent State came out on top in a nail-biter against Ball State on Saturday, sneaking past 41-38.
The Golden Flashes got off to a slow start in their contest last week against the Buffalo Bulls, but they had no such trouble against Ball State as they cruised to a 21-point first half. Ball State countered with 24 points to make it 24-21 going into the half. The Kent State offense took control in the second half, however, scoring 20 points.
QB Dustin Crum went supernova for Kent State as he picked up 101 yards on the ground on 15 carries and accumulated 368 passing yards. That nimble footwork stands out as the first time Crum has hit the 100-yard rushing mark this season. WR Isaiah McKoy also deserves a shout-out for his three TDs.
The win bumped the Golden Flashes' record up to 4-6. The Cardinals' overall record now falls to an identical 4-6.
The Golden Flashes will square off against the Eastern Michigan Eagles at noon ET next week at Rynearson Stadium. EMU took a loss in their last game and are no doubt out to reverse Kent State's good fortune. The Cardinals will take on the Miami (OH) RedHawks at noon ET at home. With a combined 985 yards of offense in their previous games, we can expect a fast-paced matchup.
