The Kent State Golden Flashes will be playing at home against the Bowling Green Falcons at 7:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Dix Stadium. Kent State is staggering into the game hobbled by six consecutive losses, while Bowling Green will skip in buoyed by three consecutive wins.
Kent State might have drawn first blood against Akron on Wednesday, but it was Akron who got the last laugh. Kent State took a 31-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Akron. Kent State was up 28-10 in the third but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Despite the loss, Kent State had strong showings from Tommy Ulatowski, who threw for 229 yards and three touchdowns, and Chrishon McCray, who picked up 161 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Bowling Green sidestepped Ball State for a 24-21 victory.
Bowling Green's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Terion Stewart led the charge by rushing for 92 yards and a touchdown. Stewart was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Connor Bazelak also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Kent State's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's lackluster offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.3 points per game. As for Bowling Green, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Everything came up roses for Kent State against Bowling Green in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 40-6 victory. Will Kent State repeat their success, or does Bowling Green have a better game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
