The Bowling Green Falcons haven't won a contest against the Kent State Golden Flashes since Oct. 31 of 2017, but they'll be looking to end the drought on Saturday. The Falcons and Kent State will face off in a Mid-American battle at 3:30 p.m. ET at Dix Stadium. Bowling Green should still be riding high after a victory, while the Golden Flashes will be looking to regain their footing.
Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bowling Green beat the Minnesota Golden Gophers 14-10 last week. Bowling Green's only offensive touchdowns (two) came on a rush from QB Matt McDonald.
Meanwhile, Kent State found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 37-16 punch to the gut against the Maryland Terrapins last week. Kent State was down 37-9 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
The Falcons have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 16.50 point spread they are up against. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 2-0 against the spread when expected to lose.
Bowling Green's win brought them up to 2-2 while the Golden Flashes' loss pulled them down to 1-3. A pair of stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Bowling Green is 246th worst in the nation in rushing yards per game, with only 45.3 on average. Kent State has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 196th most rushing yards allowed per game in the nation, having given up 197.3 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
