The Texas Tech Red Raiders weren't able to make up for their defeat to the Kansas State Wildcats from their previous meeting last November. The Red Raiders came up short against K-State Saturday, falling 31-21. Texas Tech hasn't found any success against the Wildcats since Nov. 14 of 2015, this loss making it five in a row.
RB Deuce Vaughn had a stellar game for K-State as he rushed for one TD and 113 yards on 16 carries in addition to catching three passes for one TD and 81 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Will Howard's 70-yard TD bomb to Vaughn in the fourth quarter. More help came courtesy of LB Elijah Sullivan, who was good for nine tackles.
A silver lining for Texas Tech was the play of RB Xavier White, who rushed for one TD and 113 yards on 12 carries. White's performance made up for a slower game against the Texas Longhorns last week.
The game leaves both teams with the exact same record at 1-1.
Texas Tech is on the road again next week and plays against the Iowa State Cyclones at 3:30 p.m. ET Oct. 10 at Jack Trice Stadium. As for the Wildcats, they will go up against the TCU Horned Frogs at 4 p.m. ET next week at Amon G. Carter Stadium. TCU is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 33-31 win over Texas Saturday.
