Live scores, highlights and updates from the Iowa vs. Western Michigan football game
The Western Michigan Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Iowa Hawkeyes at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.
After soaring to 35 points the game before, Western Michigan faltered in their matchup on Saturday. They was dealt a punishing 48-7 loss at the hands of Syracuse. Western Michigan have struggled against Syracuse recently, as Saturday's game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by RB Jalen Buckley, who rushed for 87 yards and punched in a rushing TD. Buckley's touchdown was no short dash either: it was a 75 yard sprint in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, the defenses reigned supreme when Iowa and Iowa State played on Saturday, rewarding bettors who took the risk on the low 35.5-point over/under. Iowa took their matchup against Iowa State 20-13. Iowa pushed the score to 20-3 by the end of the third, a deficit Iowa State cut but never quite recovered from.
Iowa can attribute much of their success to RB Jaziun Patterson, who rushed for 86 yards and punched in a rushing TD.
Western Michigan will need to dig deep on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. They finished last season with an even 6-6 record against the spread.
While the Broncos are hoping for a better result this time, the Hawkeyes are hoping to keep the momentum going. Check back to see if Western Michigan can bounce back or if Iowa can keep them down.
