The Iowa State Cyclones got themselves on the board against the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday, but K-State never followed suit. Iowa State took their game at home with ease, bagging a 45 to nothing victory over the Wildcats. That looming 45-point mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Iowa State yet this season.
QB Brock Purdy and RB Breece Hall were among the main playmakers for Iowa State as the former passed for three TDs and 236 yards on 20 attempts in addition to picking up 59 yards on the ground and the latter rushed for two TDs and 135 yards on 15 carries. Iowa State also got help from WR Xavier Hutchinson, who showed off his sure hands for 111 receiving yards in the win.
The win was the third in a row for the Cyclones and raised their record to 6-2. The loss dropped the Wildcats back to even at 4-4.
Iowa State will take on the Texas Longhorns at noon ET next Friday at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium/Jamail Field. Iowa State's defense will surely be attentive in the film room this week preparing for a Texas offense that has put up 40 points on average. K-State is staying on the road next Saturday to face off against the Baylor Bears at 1 p.m. ET Nov. 28 at McLane Stadium. These teams both have had a rocky road up to this point with three consecutive losses for K-State and five for Baylor.
