Game Recap
The San Diego State Aztecs won the last time they faced the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, and things went their way on Saturday, too. The Aztecs took their matchup against Hawaii 17-10. Despite the win, that's the fewest points San Diego State has scored all season.
No one had a standout game offensively for San Diego State, but they got scores from RB Greg Bell and K Jack Browning. Working against San Diego State was the performance of QB Lucas Johnson, who fumbled the ball once with only 99 yards passing.
San Diego State's defense was a presence, as it got past the Rainbow Warriors' offensive line to sack QB Chevan Cordeiro four times for a total loss of 21 yards. It was a group effort with four guys contributing.
Like the Aztecs, Hawaii didn't have any clear offensive standouts, but they got one touchdown from RB Calvin Turner.
The victory improved San Diego State's record to 8-1. Hawaii's loss pushed them down to 4-6.
San Diego State will be playing at home against the Nevada Wolf Pack at 10:30 p.m. ET next Saturday. Like San Diego State, Nevada is also coming into the contest bolstered by a recent win. As for Hawaii, they will go up against the UNLV Rebels at 4 p.m. ET next Saturday at Allegiant Stadium.
