Hawaii vs. Boise State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Hawaii vs. Boise State football game
Game Recap
The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors had a rough go of it last December when they matched up with the Boise State Broncos and had to endure more of the same on Saturday. The Rainbow Warriors fell to Boise State 40-32. Hawaii was down 40-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Boise State can attribute much of their success to WR Khalil Shakir, who caught 11 passes for two TDs and 130 yards, and RB Andrew Van Buren, who rushed for two TDs and 113 yards on 27 carries. This was the first time Van Buren has racked up 100+ rushing yards all year. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget CB Avery Williams, who went all the way with a kickoff return for touchdown in the third quarter?
Despite the loss, Hawaii got a solid performance out of QB Chevan Cordeiro, who passed for three TDs and 253 yards on 48 attempts in addition to picking up 90 yards on the ground.
This is the second loss in a row for Hawaii and nudges their record down to 2-3. The victory makes it two in a row for the Broncos and bumps their record up to 4-1.
The Rainbow Warriors will be hunkering down at home again for their contest against the Nevada Wolf Pack at 11 p.m. ET Nov. 28 at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium. Hawaii is catching Nevada at a good time: Nevada has scored fewer and fewer points over their past three games. As for Boise State, they will go up against the San Jose State Spartans at 2 p.m. ET next Saturday at Albertsons Stadium. If the game is anything like Boise State's 52-42 win from their previous meeting in November of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
