Georgia Tech vs. Pittsburgh: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Georgia Tech vs. Pittsburgh football game
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets haven't won a game against the Pittsburgh Panthers since Sept. 23 of 2017, but they'll be looking to end the drought on Saturday. Georgia Tech and Pitt will face off in an ACC battle at noon ET at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field. These two teams are strolling into their contest after big wins in their previous games.
The Yellow Jackets took their matchup against the North Carolina Tar Heels last week by a conclusive 45-22 score. QB Jeff Sims went supernova for Georgia Tech as he passed for one TD and 112 yards on 13 attempts in addition to rushing for three TDs and 128 yards. Sims put himself on the highlight reel with a 50-yard TD scramble in the fourth quarter.
Georgia Tech's defense was a presence as well, as it embarrassed UNC's offensive line to sack QB Sam Howell eight times for a total loss of 53 yards. The heavy lifting was done by DB Charlie Thomas and DL Kyle Kennard, who each racked up 2.5 sacks.
Meanwhile, the Panthers turned the game against the New Hampshire Wildcats into a track meet and took the gold after outgaining them 707 yards to 173. Pitt took their matchup at home last week with ease, bagging a 77-7 victory over New Hampshire. With Pitt ahead 49-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already. QB Kenny Pickett had a dynamite game for Pitt; he passed for five TDs and 403 yards on 28 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown.
Georgia Tech is expected to lose this next one by 3.5. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 2-0 against the spread when expected to lose.
The wins brought the Yellow Jackets up to 2-2 and the Panthers to 3-1. Two defensive stats to keep an eye on: Georgia Tech is stumbling into the matchup with the 142nd most rushing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up five on the season. Pitt has experienced some rushing struggles of their own as they are 171st worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with six on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
