Georgia State vs. Georgia Southern: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Georgia State vs. Georgia Southern football game
Game Recap
The best player on the turf between the Georgia Southern Eagles and the Georgia State Panthers Saturday ended up on the losing team. Although he couldn't prevent a 30-24 defeat to Georgia State, RB Logan Wright rushed for two TDs and 143 yards on eight carries. Wright put himself on the highlight reel with a 63-yard TD scramble in the second quarter. Wright's sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.
WR Cornelius McCoy hadn't helped the Panthers' cause all that much against the South Alabama Jaguars last week, but the same can't be said for this contest. No one had a standout game offensively for Georgia State, but they got scores from RB Destin Coates and McCoy. More help came courtesy of LB Blake Carroll, who was good for 12 tackles.
This is the second loss in a row for Georgia Southern and nudges their record down to 6-4. The win makes it two in a row for Georgia State and bumps their record up to 5-4.
Georgia Southern will be playing at home against the Florida Atlantic Owls at 6 p.m. ET next week. As for the Panthers, their regular season is over.
