Georgia Southern vs. UL Monroe updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Georgia Southern vs. Louisiana-Monroe football game
The Georgia Southern Eagles and the UL Monroe Warhawks will face off in a Sun Belt clash at 2:00 p.m. ET on October 21st at Allen E. Paulson Stadium. Georgia Southern will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
There's no need to mince words: Georgia Southern lost to James Madison on Saturday, and Georgia Southern lost bad. The score wound up at 41-13. Georgia Southern was down 41-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, UL Monroe's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 21-20 to Texas State.
UL Monroe's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jiya Wright, who threw for 150 yards and a touchdown, and Isaiah Woullard who gained 77 total yards and a touchdown. JaTerious Evans got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Georgia Southern's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2, while UL Monroe's bumped their own down to the opposite: 2-4.
Not only did the two teams lose their last games, but neither team managed to cover the spread. As for their game on Saturday, Georgia Southern is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 17 points. Bettors picking them against the spread have some confidence (to put it mildly), as the team is sitting on a three-game streak of failing to cover when expected to win.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday' match: The Eagles have been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 331.5 passing yards per game. It's a different story for the Warhawks, though, as they've been averaging only 136 per game. How will UL Monroe fare against such a dominant passing game?
