Georgia Southern vs. BYU Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Georgia Southern vs. BYU football game
After a two-game homestand, the BYU Cougars will be on the road. They will take on the Georgia Southern Eagles at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday at Allen E. Paulson Stadium after a week off. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.
The Cougars ran circles around the Idaho State Bengals two weeks ago, and the extra yardage (560 yards vs. 238 yards) paid off. BYU put a hurting on Idaho State at home to the tune of 59-14. With BYU ahead 42-7 at the half, the game was all but over already. Their QB Jaren Hall was on fire, passing for four TDs and 298 yards on 25 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown.
Meanwhile, it was all tied up 17-17 at the half for Georgia Southern and the Texas State Bobcats last week, but Georgia Southern stepped up in the second half for a 38-30 win. It took five tries, but the Eagles can finally say that they have a victory on the road. They can attribute much of their success to RB Jalen White, who punched in two rushing touchdowns. White had some trouble finding his footing against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers two weeks ago, so this was a step in the right direction. White's sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.
The Cougars are the favorite in this one, with an expected 20-point margin of victory. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a two-game streak of ATS wins.
BYU is now 8-2 while the Eagles sit at 3-7. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: BYU is stumbling into the matchup with the 212th most rushing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 19 on the season. Georgia Southern has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 240th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with 24 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
