The UNLV Rebels had a rough go of it last November when they matched up with the Fresno State Bulldogs and had to endure more of the same on Friday. UNLV came up short against Fresno State, falling 38-30. The Rebels were up 14 to nothing at the end of the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
QB Jake Haener and WR Jalen Cropper were among the main playmakers for the Bulldogs as the former passed for five TDs and 378 yards on 41 attempts and the latter caught ten passes for four TDs and 108 yards. Fresno State also got help from WR Keric Wheatfall, who showed off his sure hands for 115 receiving yards in the win.
A silver lining for UNLV was the play of RB Charles Williams, who rushed for one TD and 102 yards on 19 carries in addition to catching three passes for 96 yards.
UNLV's defeat pushed them down to 0-4. Fresno State's victory brought them up to 4-1.
The Rebels are staying on the road next week to face off against the UTSA Roadrunners at 6 p.m. ET Oct. 2 at Alamodome. As for the Bulldogs, they will go up against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at 11 p.m. ET next week at Clarence T.C. Ching Complex.
