Fresno State vs. Nevada: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Fresno State vs. Nevada football game
Nevada is staring down a pretty large 24.5-point disadvantage in the spread for Saturday's match. The Nevada Wolf Pack and the Fresno State Bulldogs will face off in a Mountain West battle at 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Valley Children's Stadium. Nevada is staggering into the match hobbled by 14 consecutive losses, while Fresno State will skip in buoyed by 13 consecutive wins.
There was early excitement for Nevada after they claimed the first score on Saturday, but it was Texas State who ended up claiming the real prize. Nevada took a 35-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Texas State. The over/under was set at 59 points, so nice work oddsmakers; you were right on the money.
The losing side was boosted by Brendon Lewis, who rushed for 89 yards.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Fresno State at home against Kent State on Saturday as the team secured a 53-10 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-10.
Mikey Keene looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 325 yards and four touchdowns. Keene's performance was especially impressive as it was the first time he's posted a passer rating above 170 this season. Elijah Gilliam was another key contributor, rushing for 25 yards and two touchdowns.
The loss was the 14th in a row for Nevada (dating back to last year), and dropped their record for this year to 0-4. The victory for Fresno State kept them at an undefeated 4-0.
While only Fresno State took care of their fans the last time they played, both teams pleased bettors by covering the spread. Looking ahead, the game looks promising for Fresno State, as the team is favored by a full 24.5 points. This contest will be Nevada's fourth straight as the underdogs (a stretch that saw them go 2-2 against the spread).
Nevada took a serious blow against Fresno State in their previous matchup last November, falling 41-14. Thankfully for Nevada, Jake Haener (who threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
