No. 4 Florida State survived a late challenge from rival Miami for a 27-20 victory at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida. The Seminoles won their third straight against the Hurricanes to move to 10-0 and clinch their first 10-win regular season since 2015.
Florida State struggled to run the ball against Miami, mustering just 1.8 yards per carry against an aggressive Hurricanes defensive front. However, wide receiver Keon Coleman flipped the game with a 57-yard punt return into Miami territory. Three plays later, he brought down a contested catch for what proved to be the game-winning touchdown.
Miami brought in freshman quarterback Emory Williams to start in place of Tyler Van Dyke against the Seminoles, and he was inconsistent. The three-star prospect in the 2023 class completed just 8 of 23 passes but threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns including an 85-yard scoring strike to Jacolby George.
- Running back Trey Benson was a bright spot for the Seminoles on offense, breaking off a 38-yard rush and scoring two touchdowns.
- Florida State, already having clinched a berth in the ACC Championship Game, is still on track for a trip to the College Football Playoff.
- Williams suffered an injury on his final play while stretching for a first down. Incumbent starter Van Dyke came into the game but threw an interception on fourth down to help seal the win for the Seminoles.
