The Florida State Seminoles will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Duke Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. ET at Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium. Florida State will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
A well-balanced attack led Florida State over Syracuse in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Florida State blew Syracuse out of the water with a 41-3 final score. The result was nothing new for Florida State, who have now won four matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Florida State relied on the efforts of Lawrance Toafili, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and Jordan Travis, who threw for 284 yards and a touchdown. Toafili was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Florida State also got help from Keon Coleman who showed off his sure hands for 140 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Duke was not the first on the board last Saturday, but they got there more often. Everything went their way against North Carolina State as Duke made off with a 24-3 win. The result was nothing new for Duke, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Jordan Waters was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Belin IV, who threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
Florida State's win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.8 points per game. As for Duke, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Not only did both teams in this Saturday's matchup win their last matches, they also took care of their bettors and covered the spread. Going forward, Florida State is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 14 points. Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's game: The Seminoles have been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 173.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like the Blue Devils struggle in that department as they've been even better at 197.4 per game. It's looking like Saturday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
