Florida Atlantic vs. Charlotte updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Florida Atlantic vs. Charlotte football game
Game Recap
The Florida Atlantic Owls gave up the first points against the Charlotte 49ers Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. Florida Atlantic got past Charlotte with less than a touchdown to spare, ending up at 21-17. That's another feather in the cap for the Owls, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Florida Atlantic QB Nick Tronti did work as he passed for two TDs and 98 yards on 22 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 94 yards. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse LB Chase Lasater, who racked up nine tackles.
Florida Atlantic's defense was a presence as well, as it embarrassed Charlotte's offensive line to sack QB Chris Reynolds six times. Leading the way was DE Leighton McCarthy and his three sacks. Those were the first sacks for McCarthy this year.
No one had a standout game offensively for Charlotte, but they got scores from WR Cameron Dollar and RB Tre Harbison III.
The win got the Owls back to even at 0-0. The 49ers' overall record fell to 0-1.
Florida Atlantic will take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles at 4 p.m. ET next week at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at M.M. Roberts Stadium. Charlotte is on the road again next week and plays against the North Texas Mean Green at 8 p.m. ET Oct. 10 at Apogee Stadium.
