Game Recap
On Friday, the Eastern Michigan Eagles were out to avenge their 42-16 defeat to the Central Michigan Chippewas from their previous meeting last October, but they had no such luck. EMU came up short against CMU, falling 31-23. The Eagles were up 20-6 at the end of the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
RB Lew Nichols III had a stellar game for CMU as he rushed for two TDs and 195 yards on 29 carries.
CMU's defense was a force to be reckoned with, as it collected three interceptions and two fumbles. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
The losing side was boosted by QB Preston Hutchinson, who accumulated 365 passing yards in addition to rushing for two TDs and 57 yards.
EMU still hasn't won a game and fell to 0-4. The victory improved the Chippewas' record to 3-1.
The Eagles will take on the Western Michigan Broncos at 2 p.m. ET next week at Waldo Stadium. CMU will take on the Ball State Cardinals at noon ET next week at home. If the matchup is anything like CMU's 45-44 win from their previous meeting in November of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
