The Norfolk State Spartans will start their season against the East Carolina Pirates. Kickoff is scheduled at 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
Norfolk State can't be to happy about their upcoming road game against East Carolina considering what happened when they opened their season on the road on Saturday. Norfolk State and Florida A&M were almost perfectly matched up, but Norfolk State suffered an agonizing 24-23 defeat. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Rattlers: they've now lost three in a row.
Norfolk State's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for East Carolina, they've got a clean slate. Last year, they will look to improve upon their 2-10 record.Looking ahead, the game looks promising for East Carolina, as the team is favored by a full 33.5 points. They finished last season with a 5-7 record against the spread.
While East Carolina might be expected to win, their sub-par 1-2 record as the favorite last season means this is still anyone's game. A bettor who placed a $100 dollar bet on them to lose every one of the 12 games they played last year would have netted $400.70. On the other hand, Norfolk State was 2-5 as the underdog last season.
