Game Recap
The Duke Blue Devils had a rough outing against the Charlotte 49ers last Friday, but a little bit of home cooking seems to have fixed things right up. Duke took their matchup against the North Carolina A&T Aggies on Friday by a conclusive 45-17 score. Since the Blue Devils won the last time these teams met, too, this is only more fuel for the fire driving North Carolina A&T's future revenge.
After a totally unproductive first quarter, the Duke offense stepped up its game and put 21 points on the board in the second quarter. North Carolina A&T countered with 14 points. Duke's offense just added to that total in the second half en route to their big win.
Duke QB Gunnar Holmberg was slinging it as he accumulated 270 passing yards in addition to rushing for two TDs and 30 yards. RB Mataeo Durant also deserves a shout-out for his three TDs.
QB Kingsley Ifedi put forth a good effort for the losing side as he accumulated 53 passing yards in addition to rushing for two TDs and 83 yards.
The win got Duke back to even at 1-1. The loss dropped the Aggies' record to 0-2.
The Blue Devils will stay at home against the Northwestern Wildcats at 4 p.m. ET Sept. 18 at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium. North Carolina A&T will have some time to rest before their next game, which is against the North Carolina Central Eagles at 6 p.m. ET in two weeks at BB&T Stadium.
