The Elon Phoenix will hit the road to start this year's campaign against the Duke Blue Devils. Kickoff is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Looking back to last season, Elon finished on the right side of .500 (6-5), and they're hoping to kick off an even more successful campaign this year. Similarly, Duke also assembled a winning record last year, finishing the season 7-5.
Elon is the clear underdog, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. They finished last season with a 7-4 record against the spread.
Even though the experts think Elon isn't going to win this one, the team was an even 4-4 as the underdog last season. Betting on them to win was the most profitable play last year, as bettors who put $100 on that outcome in every game walked away with $499.54. Duke will open their season as the favorite, and the team was 6-1 as such last season.
