Duke vs. Charlotte Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Duke vs. Charlotte football game
Game Recap
The Duke Blue Devils were the big favorite in their most recent matchup, and for good reason. They were the clear victors by a 53-19 margin over the Charlotte 49ers. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Duke had established a 37-13 advantage.
The Blue Devils' success was spearheaded by the efforts of RB Deon Jackson, who rushed for two TDs and 101 yards on ten carries, and RB Mataeo Durant, who rushed for two TDs and 104 yards on 12 carries. One of the most memorable plays of the contest was Jackson's 65-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter. More help came courtesy of LB Shaka Heyward, who was good for nine tackles.
Duke's defense was a presence as well, as it got past the 49ers' offensive line to sack the QB four times. Leading the way was DE Chris Rumph II and his three sacks. Rumph II now has 7.5 sacks this year.
No one had a standout game offensively for Charlotte, but they got scores from WR Victor Tucker, WR Micaleous Elder, and RB Tre Harbison III.
The win bumped Duke's record up to 2-5. Charlotte's loss pushed them down to 2-3.
The Blue Devils have the luxury of staying at home another week and will welcome the North Carolina Tar Heels at noon ET Nov. 7 at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium. Unlike Duke, UNC will be limping in after taking a loss. Charlotte will hit the road for the second straight week as they head to Johnny (Red) Floyd Stadium at 3:30 p.m. ET next Saturday. The Middle Tenn. Blue Raiders' offense will be looking to get out and run against a Middle Tenn. squad that has given up 37 points on average this season.
