The Connecticut Huskies had a rough go of it November of last year when they matched up with the East Carolina Pirates and had to endure more of the same on Saturday. UConn came up short against East Carolina, falling 31-24. The Huskies haven't found any success against East Carolina since Oct. 30 of 2015, this defeat making it four in a row.
RB Darius Pinnix Jr. was the offensive standout of the game for East Carolina, as he rushed for 109 yards and two TDs on 26 carries. QB Holton Ahlers was in the mix, too, providing East Carolina with two touchdowns.
The losing side was boosted by WR Cameron Ross, who caught eight passes for 169 yards and two TDs. One of the most thrilling moments of the matchup was Ross' 94-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter.
The loss dropped the Huskies' record to 2-8. The Pirates' win brought them up to 3-7.
The Huskies will take on the Temple Owls at 3:30 p.m. ET next week at Lincoln Financial Field. The defensive coordinators surely put in extra hours ahead of this contest since these teams' offenses combined for 993 yards this week. As for the Pirates, they will go up against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at noon ET at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
