Nebraska used a monstrous defensive performance to swallow Colorado 28-10 and get revenge on the Buffaloes for their 2023 victory. Colorado finished with 16 yards rushing as Nebraska put the game away early and coasted to a big win.
The first half was a house of horrors for Colorado as the Cornhuskers easily built up a 28-0 halftime lead, including a pick six on a dreadful pass to the edge by quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The Buffaloes failed to score any points until 10:38 in the third quarter and didn't get into the end zone until garbage time with 8:45 left in the game.
Nebraska freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola was clean in his first start against a power-conference opponent, completing 23 of 30 passes for 185 yards and a touchdown. The Cornhuskers were balanced with 30 pass attempts and 32 rush attempts.
The defense was even better, holding Sanders to 244 yards passing on 38 pass attempts with the pick six. CU's running backs combined for just 36 total yards, and Colorado surrendered five sacks against the powerful Cornhuskers front.
Nebraska running back Dante Dowdell emerged as the top option for the Cornhuskers with 94 yards and two touchdowns. Raiola spread the wealth to seven different receivers but found running back Rahmir Johnson eight times with a touchdown. Colorado superstar Travis Hunter had 10 catches for 110 yards, but no other Colorado player had more than 59 yards of offense.
