Coastal Carolina vs. Citadel: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Thursday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Coastal Carolina vs. Citadel football game
Game Recap
When you finish with 376 more yards than your opponent like the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers did on Thursday, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They put a hurting on the Citadel Bulldogs at home to the tune of 52-14. For the Chanticleers, this is just revenge for the 41-38 loss they suffered against Citadel the last time they faced one another on Nov. 28 of 2015.
The Coastal Carolina offense pulled no punches in the first half and blazed their way to 31 points. Citadel wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 31 to nothing heading into the break. The offense for Coastal Carolina continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 21 points to put the game away.
Coastal Carolina's RB Shermari Jones was one of the most active players for the team, punching in two rushing touchdowns. RB Reese White was in the mix, too, providing Coastal Carolina with two touchdowns.
No one had a standout game offensively for Citadel, but they got scores from WR Raleigh Webb and Nathan Storch. The matchup brought the Chanticleers to 1-0 and dropped the Bulldogs to a mirror-image 0-1.
Coastal Carolina will be hunkering down at home again for their contest against the Kansas Jayhawks at 7:30 p.m. ET Sept. 10 at Brooks Stadium. As for Citadel, they will face off against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers at 2 p.m. ET next week at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
