Clemson vs. Syracuse updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Clemson vs. Syracuse football game
Game Recap
The Syracuse Orange had a rough go of it last September when they matched up with the Clemson Tigers and had to endure more of the same on Saturday. The Orange suffered a grim 47-21 defeat to Clemson. 'Cuse hasn't found any success against the Tigers since Oct. 13 of 2017, this defeat making it three in a row.
RB Travis Etienne continued his habit of dropping crazy stat lines, punching in three rushing touchdowns. That's the most rushing touchdowns Etienne has had all year. QB Trevor Lawrence had a good game, too, finishing with two touchdowns.
Clemson's defense was a presence as well, as it collected three interceptions and one fumble. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
WR Nykeim Johnson hadn't helped 'Cuse's cause all that much against the Liberty Flames last week, but the same can't be said for this matchup. Johnson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he caught one pass for one TD and 83 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Johnson's 83-yard TD reception in the third quarter.
'Cuse's loss makes it three in a row and drags their record down to 1-5. The victory for the Tigers kept them a perfect 6-0.
The Orange will square off against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at noon ET next Saturday at Carrier Dome. 'Cuse is heading into an offensive buzzsaw as that team is averaging 37 per game. Clemson will play host again and welcome the Boston College Eagles to Memorial Stadium, where kick-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET next Saturday. BC is coming in off of a big 48-27 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
