Clemson vs. Pittsburgh: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Clemson vs. Pittsburgh football game
Game Recap
When you finish with 337 more yards than your opponent like the Clemson Tigers did on Saturday, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They claimed a resounding 52-17 win over the Pittsburgh Panthers at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Clemson had established a 45-17 advantage.
The Tigers relied on the efforts of WR Cornell Powell, who caught six passes for one TD and 176 yards, and RB Travis Etienne, who punched in two rushing touchdowns. RB Chez Mellusi was in the mix, too, providing Clemson with two touchdowns.
Clemson's defense was a force to be reckoned with, as it collected four interceptions and one fumble. CB Mario Goodrich picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
No one had a standout game offensively for Pitt, but they got scores from RB Vincent Davis and WR Jordan Addison.
Clemson's victory brought them up to 8-1. The loss dropped the Panthers back to even at 5-5.
The Tigers will take on the Virginia Tech Hokies at noon ET next Saturday at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. Clemson is catching Virginia Tech at a good time: Virginia Tech has scored fewer and fewer points over their past three games. Pitt is staying on the road in two weeks to face off against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at 7 p.m. ET Dec. 10 at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field.
