Charlotte vs. Rice: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Charlotte vs. Rice football game
This Saturday, the Rice Owls are hoping to patch up the holes in a defense that has allowed an average of 36.5 points per game. Rice and the Charlotte 49ers will face off in a Conference USA battle at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Jerry Richardson Stadium. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W.'
The Owls fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the North Texas Mean Green last week but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 30-24. Rice was their own worst enemy and cost themselves 114 yards in penalties. Their defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of WR Jake Bailey, who caught ten passes for one TD and 143 yards, and QB Jake Constantine, who passed for two TDs and 242 yards on 30 attempts. Bailey hadn't helped his team much against the UAB Blazers two weeks ago, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
Meanwhile, Charlotte has to be aching after a bruising 45-13 loss to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers last week. Charlotte was down 35-13 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. Their only offensive touchdown came on a rush from QB James Foster.
Rice is expected to lose this next one by 6. Those betting on them against the spread shouldn't have high expectations for them since the squad is 1-3 ATS when expected to lose.
The Owls are now 3-5 while the 49ers sit at 4-4. Rice is 2-2 after losses this season, Charlotte 2-1.
