Charlotte vs. Florida Atlantic: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Thursday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Charlotte vs. Florida Atlantic football game
Game Recap
The Charlotte 49ers typically have all the answers at home, but on Thursday the Florida Atlantic Owls proved too difficult a challenge. The Owls made easy work of Charlotte and carried off a 38-9 win. The score was close at the half, but Florida Atlantic pulled away in the second half with 31 points.
RB Johnny Ford hadn't helped Florida Atlantic's cause all that much against the UAB Blazers two weeks ago, but the same can't be said for this game. Among those leading the charge for Florida Atlantic was Ford, who punched in one rushing touchdown in addition to snatching one receiving TD. Ford's longest run was for 60 yards in the fourth quarter. QB N'Kosi Perry had a good game, too, finishing with three touchdowns.
No one had a standout game offensively for Charlotte, but QB Chris Reynolds led the way with one touchdown.
The victory bumped the Owls' record up to 4-3. The 49ers' defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3.
Florida Atlantic will look to defend their home turf next week against the UTEP Miners at 6 p.m. ET. Like Florida Atlantic, UTEP is also coming into the contest bolstered by a recent win. As for Charlotte, they will go up against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at 4 p.m. ET next week at Houchens-Smith Stadium. WKU also experienced difficulties finding the end zone in their matchup last week, so look for the defenses to decide this one.
