Central Michigan vs. Akron updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday

The Central Michigan Chippewas will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Akron Zips at 3:30 p.m. ET at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Central Michigan might want some stickum for this match since the team gave up four turnovers on Saturday.

The point spread may have favored Central Michigan last Saturday, but the final result did not. They suffered a grim 37-13 defeat to Buffalo.

Meanwhile, Akron's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were completely outmatched by Northern Illinois at home and fell 55-14. Akron was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.

Nobody from Akron had a standout game, but they got scores from Tahj Bullock and TJ Banks.

The Zips were plagued by a slow offense and finished the game with only 3.4 yards per play. They were demolished by their opponents in that department as Northern Illinois advanced 11.

The losses dropped Central Michigan to 3-3 and Akron to 1-5.

Looking forward, Central Michigan is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 12 points.

Central Michigan was able to grind out a solid win over Akron in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, winning 28-21. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Akron's DJ Irons, who threw for 255 yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Will he be able to hit those levels again? There's only one way to find out.
