Saturday's contest might be decided in the trenches. UC Davis was unstoppable on the ground last season, having averaged 164.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like California struggles in that department as they averaged 181.1.
Looking back to last season, UC Davis finished on the right side of .500 (7-4), and they're hoping to kick off an even more successful campaign this year. On the other hand, California wound up balanced, finishing 6-6.
UC Davis must know they're fighting an uphill battle given the 20.5-point spread they're up against. They finished last season with a mediocre 2-8 record against the spread, so bettors beware.
