BYU vs. UAB updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the BYU vs. UAB football game
The UAB Blazers and the BYU Cougars have had some time off and are no doubt ready to hit the field. Bowl season is underway, and UAB and BYU will compete for postseason bragging rights in the Independence Bowl at Independence Stadium at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
The UTEP Miners typically have all the answers at home, but three weeks ago the Blazers proved too difficult a challenge. UAB took down UTEP 42-25. UAB's RB Jermaine Brown Jr. was one of the most active players for the team, punching in three rushing touchdowns.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, BYU beat the USC Trojans 35-31 three weeks ago. It was another big night for the Cougars' RB Tyler Allgeier, who rushed for two TDs and 133 yards on 21 carries.
The Blazers are expected to lose this next one by 7. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.
Two defensive stats to keep an eye on: UAB is stumbling into the matchup with the 216th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 24 on the season. The Cougars have experienced some struggles of their own as they are 214th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 23 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
