Game Recap
The BYU Cougars netted a 27-17 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday.
The Cougars started the matchup off right with 21 first-half points. ASU wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 21-7 heading into the break. BYU coasted a bit in the second half, relying primarily on their first half lead, but they still walked away with the victory.
No one had a standout game offensively for BYU, but they got scores from a handful of players including TE Isaac Rex, RB Tyler Allgeier, and WR Gunner Romney.
BYU's defense was a force to be reckoned with, as it collected two interceptions and three fumbles. The picks came courtesy of LB Max Tooley and DB Malik Moore.
ASU's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of RB Rachaad White, who punched in one rushing touchdown, and RB Daniyel Ngata, who punched in one rushing touchdown.
The victory improved the Cougars' record to 3-0. The Sun Devils' loss pushed them down to 2-1.
BYU will play host again and welcome the South Florida Bulls to LaVell Edwards Stadium, where kick-off is scheduled for 10:15 p.m. ET next Saturday. South Florida is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 38-17 win over the Florida A&M Rattlers on Saturday. ASU will look to defend their home turf next Saturday against the Colorado Buffaloes at 10:30 p.m. ET. Like ASU, Colorado is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 30 to nothing to the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
