Boise State vs. North Texas updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Boise State vs. North Texas football game
The North Texas Mean Green and the Boise State Broncos have had some time off and are no doubt ready to hit the field. Bowl season is underway, and North Texas and Boise State will compete for postseason bragging rights in the Frisco Bowl at Toyota Stadium at 9:15 p.m. ET on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W.'
The Mean Green have to be hurting after a devastating 48-27 defeat at the hands of the UTSA Roadrunners two weeks ago. A silver lining for North Texas was the play of RB Ikaika Ragsdale, who rushed for one TD and 108 yards on 17 carries. Ragsdale's longest run was for 56 yards in the first quarter.
Boise State suffered a bitter loss two weeks ago, failing to capitalize on an early lead against the Fresno State Bulldogs. Boise State took a 28-16 hit to the loss column. Despite the loss, they got a solid performance out of WR Davis Koetter, who caught five passes for one TD and 93 yards. Koetter hadn't helped his team much against the Utah State Aggies three weeks ago, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed ten. K Jonah Dalmas delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
The Mean Green have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 10.5-point spread they are up against. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 4-2 against the spread when expected to lose.
Two numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: North Texas ranks 11th in the nation when it comes to passing touchdowns, with 32 on the season. But the Broncos enter the matchup with only 11 passing touchdowns allowed, good for eighth best in the nation. We'll see which of these strengths -- offense or defense -- will win out.
