Boise State vs. New Mexico Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Boise State vs. New Mexico football game
Game Recap
On Saturday, the New Mexico Lobos were out to avenge their 42-9 loss to the Boise State Broncos from their previous meeting in November of 2019, but they had no such luck. New Mexico was pulverized by Boise State 37 to nothing. The Lobos haven't found any success against Boise State since Nov. 14 of 2015, this defeat making it five in a row.
Boise State can attribute much of their success to WR Khalil Shakir, who caught seven passes for one TD and 116 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Hank Bachmeier's 56-yard TD bomb to Shakir in the second quarter. Another playmaker for Boise State was DE Dylan Herberg, who returned a punt six yards to the end zone in the second quarter.
Special teams collected 13 points for the Broncos. K Jonah Dalmas delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game. This makes it three perfect games in a row for him. Tyreque Jones' 6-yard punt return for touchdown should surely be counted as one of the game's standout moments.
The defeat dropped the Lobos' record to 3-8. The Broncos' win brought them up to 7-4.
New Mexico will take on the Utah State Aggies at 1 p.m. ET next Friday at home. Utah State is looking for a pick-me-up after a 44-17 blowout loss to the Wyoming Cowboys. As for Boise State, they will face off against the San Diego State Aztecs at noon ET next Friday at Dignity Health Sports Park. Those two teams have allowed few points on average (Boise State 18.27, San Diego State 17.36), so any points scored will be well earned.
