Baylor vs. West Virginia updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Baylor vs. West Virginia football game
3rd Quarter Report
Fortunes may be turning around for Baylor after losing four in a row. Sitting on a score of 28-27, they have looked like the better team, but there's still one more quarter to play. They took a big hit to their ego last Saturday, so a win here would be a pleasant pick-me-up.
Baylor came into the contest with some extra motivation after the defeat they were dealt the last time these two teams faced off. We'll see if they're able to flip the script or if it'll just be more of the same.
Preview
The West Virginia Mountaineers will head out on the road to face off against the Baylor Bears at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at McLane Stadium. West Virginia will be strutting in after a win while Baylor will be stumbling in from a loss.
Last Saturday, West Virginia made easy work of Cincinnati and carried off a 42-21 win. The win was just what West Virginia needed coming off of a 59-20 defeat in their prior matchup.
West Virginia's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jahiem White, who gained 279 total yards and two touchdowns, and Garrett Greene, who rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. White's longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards.
Meanwhile, Baylor's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a bruising 42-17 walloping at the hands of TCU. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Baylor in their matchups with TCU: they've now lost four in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Blake Shapen, who rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 197 yards and a touchdown.
West Virginia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Baylor, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Going forward, West Virginia shouldn't be too worried about this matchup, as the experts have them favored by nine points. Those brave souls putting their money on Baylor against the spread have faith in an upset since their 2-2 ATS can't hold a candle to West Virginia's 7-4.
West Virginia came out on top in a nail-biter against Baylor when the teams last played back in October of 2022, sneaking past 43-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Virginia since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
