Game Recap
The Georgia Southern Eagles missed a PAT kick in the third quarter against the Army West Point Black Knights Saturday, and it came back to haunt them. The Eagles lost 28-27 to Army. Georgia Southern was up 14 to nothing at the end of the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
No one had a standout game offensively for Army, but they got scores from RB Sandon McCoy, RB Jakobi Buchanan, and RB Braheam Murphy. Working against Army was the performance of QB Tyhier Tyler, who fumbled the ball three times with only 25 yards passing.
QB Shai Werts put forth a good effort for the losing side as he passed for two TDs and 80 yards on seven attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown.
The loss dropped Georgia Southern's record to 6-3. The victory improved the Black Knights' record to 7-2.
The Eagles will hit the road for the second straight week as they head to Center Parc Stadium at noon ET next week. Army will have some time to savor their win since their next matchup is a little ways off; they will square off against the Navy Midshipmen at Blaik Field at Michie Stadium at 3 p.m. ET in three weeks. Navy took a loss in their last game and are no doubt out to reverse Army West Point's good fortune.
