Arkansas vs. Mississippi State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Arkansas vs. Mississippi State football game
The Arkansas Razorbacks should come into this matchup well-rested after a week off from action. Arkansas and the Mississippi State Bulldogs will face off in an SEC battle at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
The Razorbacks ran circles around the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions two weeks ago, and the extra yardage (504 yards vs. 223 yards) paid off. Arkansas was completely in charge, breezing past Arkansas-Pine Bluff 45-3 at home. The Arkansas offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway. WR Treylon Burks had a stellar game for Arkansas as he punched in one rushing touchdown in addition to catching four passes for two TDs and 89 yards.
Meanwhile, MSU was no stranger to outgunning their opponent yards-wise, either, with 438 yards compared to the Kentucky Wildcats' 216 last week. The Bulldogs were able to grind out a solid win over the Wildcats, winning 31-17. MSU's RB Dillon Johnson looked sharp as he punched in two rushing touchdowns.
MSU's defense was a presence as well, as it collected three interceptions and one fumble. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
Arkansas is the favorite in this one, with an expected 5.5-point margin of victory. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past two games, so buyers beware.
The wins brought both teams up to an identical 5-3. A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: The Razorbacks are 235th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 16 on the season. The Bulldogs have experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the 226th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 14 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
