The Southern Miss Golden Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Arkansas State Red Wolves at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Centennial Bank Stadium. Despite being away, Southern Miss are looking at a 7-point advantage in the spread.
After a 66-13 finish the last time they played, Southern Miss and Tulane decided to play a little more cautiously this time around. Southern Miss took a hard 21-3 fall against Tulane on Saturday. The last quarter was a mere formality, since it was already 21-3 by the end of the third.
Meanwhile, Arkansas State put the hurt on Stony Brook with a sharp 31-7 win on Saturday.
Among those leading the charge was RB Ja'Quez Cross, who rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Cross was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. It was a true group effort though, as the team also got help from Jaylen Raynor, who threw for 78 yards and one touchdown.
Arkansas State are hoping to beat the odds on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. This contest might not be the best time to bet them against the spread since they've let bettors down the last three times they've played.
Southern Miss barely slipped by Arkansas State in their previous matchup last October, winning 20-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southern Miss since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
